A seed of giving

A fun morning of singing and giving was had by Siyakhanyisa Primary School pupils.

INSTILLING within the youth a spirit of giving, the pupils of Siyakhanyisa Primary School in Zidelele made their way to the Zululand Hospice Association on Friday for a morning of entertainment and charity.

Grade 3 pupils belonging to the Brownie and Girl Guides movement handed over countless bags of clothing, books and toys to Hospice followed by an exciting performance of song and dance by the girls for all members of Hospice.

Teacher and committee coordinator, Makhosi Cele said the school is looking forward to future charity projects.

‘Our Brownie and Girls Guides officially kicked off this year making the Hospice handover one of our firsts. We hope to work more with them and other NGOs in need. The pupils thoroughly enjoy getting involved with community outreach work,’ said Cele.

After a busy morning, Hospice thanked the pupils with a light brunch before they headed back to the classroom.

‘We are so thankful for the generous donation made to Hospice by these young children. Their efforts have planted a seed of giving and may the school continue to groom this culture of ubuntu and compassion for others,’ said Zululand Hospice Association General Manager, Dr Sibongile Magagula.
