AN Mtunzini man was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment in the eSikhawini Regional Court for raping a six-year-old child in 2012.
According to the court statement, on 21 January 2012 at approximately 6.30pm the little boy was playing outside in the Msingweni area near Mtunzini where he was approached by the accused. The accused told the boy to accompany him to cut mangoes from a nearby tree, where the rape took place.
The boy reported the matter to his mother, who later reported the incident at the Mtunzini police station.
A case was transferred to the Empangeni Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.
