Zululanders got the rhythm

Richards Bay Rhythmic Gymnastics Club received their KZN colours.

THE Bay rhythm seems to be flowing in a winning direction after 10 girls from the Richards Bay Rhythmic Gymnastics Club received their KZN colours after dominating at the provincial rhythmic gymnastics competition held at Dokkies in Durban at the weekend.

The local girls brought home 14 gold, 19 silver and 12 bronze medals.

To top this achievement, the Bay club entered two level group dances, with both groups receiving KZN colours.

The group will head to Cape Town later this year to compete at the national championships.

Group A consisted of Alyssa Claassen, Faith Mthenjana, Alike Janse van Rensburg and Ilke Janse van Rensburg, who claimed silver.

Group B claimed bronze and was represented by Anmari van Niekerk, Jordynn Preen, Simphiwe Ntombela and Sonnika van Niekerk.

Most of the girls received double KZN colours for group and individual performances.

Individual colours were awarded to Mthenjana, Ntombela, Claassen and Preen for U11 Level 4, Anmari van Niekerk U13 Level 4, Alike Janse van Rensburg and Ilke Janse van Rensburg U11 Level 5 and Abby Farran Kerbe and Paege Calasse for U13 Level 5.

‘I am so proud of all the girls for working so hard and wish them all luck at the nationals next month October,’ said the coach Chandré Cronjé.
