Local fighters claim silverware

Three students claimed silverware at the annual NMA-ISKA National and all-Africa artial atrs championships held in Cape Town last weekend.

THREE students from the Paul Cave Empangeni Martial Arts Club claimed silverware at the annual NMA-ISKA national and all-Africa martial arts championships held in Cape Town last weekend.

Paolo Minichiello took bronze for continuous fighting and point sparing in the veteran category, Khwezi Dlamini received silver for creative form in the open white and yellow belt category, with Marco Minichiello taking home bronze for point sparing and creative form in the open white and yellow belt category.

The students trained hard under coach Johann Smit and assistant coaches Brandon Smit and Angelique Grundlingh.

All students from the Paul Cave Empangeni Martial Arts Club will compete in Durban on 4 December.

The club meets and trains on a Monday and Wednesday at the Empangeni Bowls Club from 6pm to 7.30pm.
