Housing one brick at a time

Nkandla families benefit with housing from the Jacob Zuma Foundation

SHELTER is a basic human need and the Ntuli family, one of three beneficiaries of houses handed over on Saturday, knows this fact best.

The Jacob G Zuma Foundation brought joy to the Ntuli, Mkhwanazi and Khuzwayo families as they received keys to their new residences.

After living in a deteriorating mud house for far too long, the delight was too much to contain as the senior Mrs Ntuli jumped for joy.

‘It is easy to talk about poverty, but seeing it is a different story.’

These are the words of the President after cutting the ribbon to the new house of the Ntuli family.

There are 112 families on the waiting list for houses from the Foundation.

Responding to this act of kindness, the Department of Human Settlement offered to build the next three houses as soon as possible and also offered to build another 10.

Appealing to the businessmen in attendance to donate more, President Zuma stressed that the funds were limited, but slowly, but surely the building of other houses will occur.
