Bush knife killer denied bail

Mzingazi man facing charges of murder, attempted murder and malicious damage to property.

ATTACKING his victims with a bush knife, accused Sibusiso Qwabe, who is facing four charges including murder, attempted murder and malicious damage to property, appeared in the Richards Bay Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for a formal bail application.

Bail was refused and he will remain in custody until 28 August when a trial date will be set.

Qwabe is accused of brutally attacking his sister with a bush knife during a violent family dispute on 24 April.

He returned two weeks later and assaulted two tenants at the house, also with a bush knife, and broke the windscreen of a truck during the incident before fleeing the scene.

One of the men was taken to hospital and died a few weeks later, while his sister lost a finger and the feeling in one hand.

Police eventually tracked down the suspect and arrested him at a Richards Bay bank.
