Suspended sentence for hoax bomber

He threatened staff at a Richards Bay hospital.

A YEAR after chaos and terror ruled the local medical hospital, a man responsible for the pandemonium faced the music at the Richards Bay Regional Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

Muzomuhle Mhlongo (24), a student, received a five-year suspended sentence for the bomb threat he made at Netcare The Bay Hospital in October last year.

According to the police statement, Mhlongo had called a meeting with medical practitioners and staff. He informed them he had planted a bomb inside the institution.

The student was arrested shortly thereafter and charged by Richards Bay police.

Through police investigation, it was later discovered the perpetrator had lied about planting explosives in the hospital.
