eSikhaleni killing a conspiracy say police

Police seek third suspect in the brutal murder of a butchery supervisor.

A MANHUNT is underway for a man believed to be the mastermind behind a local butchery supervisor’s brutal murder last Monday.

The 43-year-old man from KwaNdaye reserve in eSikhaleni was stabbed several times on his body.

He was apparently walking with his three friends from a soccer match in Richards Bay during the incident.

His friends told the police they were mugged by unknown people, but managed to flee while robbers attacked their friend.

The eSikhawini police said they responded to a call, after the trio transported him in a wheelbarrow to the nearest clinic, where he later died.

According to the police, during their questioning at the clinic, Solomuzi Ngubane (20) jumped the clinic fence and fled.

His other two friends were then questioned further, and later came clean about being involved in a conspiracy to kill the deceased.

Police suspect the murder was a result of the deceased’s recent promotion from Jwayelani Butchery in Richards Bay.

They also learned that the deceased and Ngubane were working at the same butchery.

ESikhawini SAPS spokesperson Lt Thembinkosi Mkhumane said the police are still searching for Ngubane in connection with the incident.

Empangeni SAPS spokesperson Capt Mbongeni Mdlalose said a warrant for his arrest has not been issued, and the police just want to question him.

‘We plead with the community to urgently contact the police if they have any information on his whereabouts.’
