Toddler’s body mutilated

Community burns down the church premises where body parts of a young boy were found.

AFTER the shocking discovery of her son’s mutilated body inside a church in Pongola on Saturday, grieving mother Bongiwe Ntuli from the Ncotshane area now has to wait for the missing body parts of her four-year-old child before laying him to rest.

The boy had been cut into pieces and stuffed in a bag.

Speaking to the Zululand Observer, the boy’s uncle, Sakhile Ngubane, said his nephew went missing last Wednesday. He was apparently playing with other children outside when he was called by ‘a man selling sugarcane’.

‘We are still shocked, but we hope the police will apprehend whoever did this awful act. It’s even more painful because the rest of his body hasn’t been recovered. His one arm and stomach are missing,’ said Ngubane.

Ngubane said his nephew was a wonderful boy who loved playing outside with his friends.

Pongola Ward 2 councillor, Jackson Mkhwanazi, said after the child was reported missing he informed the police.

‘We started searching for the boy, until we heard that a body has been found at St Jones Church.

‘On Saturday an old man who lives within the church premises saw a bag in a room. According to him, a tiny hand was sticking out of the bag,’ Mkhwanazi said.

I informed the police and the Ngubane family. When the police and forensic team emptied the bag, body parts of the missing boy were discovered.’

The outraged community members vandalised the church using bottles and stones. They also burnt the church’s roundavel.

Yesterday (Monday), Pongola councillors visited the Ngubane homestead to provide support.

KZN police spokesperson, Captain Thulani Zwane, confirmed the incident and said the Pongola police was investigating.

‘The motive of the killing is unknown and no arrest has been made at this stage,’ he said.

  1. Its a sad feeling that such a horific incident involved the church. This church in Ncotshane has had a dark cloud hanging over it since long time ago. Some say there is the great snake (mamlambo) that lick the congrants while they are praying and that children have their own special service so that they cannot see this huge snake that lick the church members while they were praying. The old English saying that says “You play at the church’s roof” is no more valid as the youth of Ncotshane even played on top of the church’s roof while others torched everything that could catch fire.

  2. This is so sad our prayers to the family, just goes to showw that some people are savages . BRING BACK THE DEATH PENALTY for this animals imagine if this kid was yours

  3. I hope the church has officials and prematurely, the church has something to do with this horrific practices. if you want to find out who did this, the head of the church know every detail the police has to know. however, in due regard of respect, i think the mutilated boy’s missing parts are to be used to grow the church which however the head in chief of the church knows the damn hell of the missing parts. Attentively, 1 in a million can frame you for such nonsense but the officials knows the truth. if it was my nephew, someone would be telling the truth by now.

Speaking from experience, police wont assist in this matter. This is the trust they have built with us as residents of south Africa. if the family don’t stand up for this matter and rely on police, dream the missing parts and let the honorable boy rest in peace.

piece of advice, without encouraging disputes, i think the family need to be vigilant a bit and conduct the investigation themselves because this people we have appointed to help us, forget their duties once they sit behind the desk.

i would slaughter that busted and have his hand and the stomach added to the boys coffin and be arrested for a good reason because the south African justice is as good as possible but the jurisdiction is messing with our lives. i don’t know how to say this but there is no honor is justice.

  4. We can’t afford loosing people’s lives because of community institutions which are said to bring peace, instead they leave us with tears and unforgettable experiences so for that is better we bring back mob justice .We would be knowing by now if we conducted mob justice and let all the church staff suffer the consequences until the truth is told in full, one thing I can say the church members or the staff in head knows about the mutilation .This kinda sitiuation may not be the first one of there still a lot that hell of a church can tell we had our long lost relative that we don’t even know of even by now because of such places that rely on people’s blood . We need to stand and fight this without any police because they there to be told on how to do their job. They sick people,I will like to pass my condolences to the entire boy’s family. The priest and some church members should have their skin reaped off on day light at community’s presence.

  9. Philani Ndlangamandla: ‘They sick people,I will like to pass my condolences to the entire boy’s family.’ Aside from this terrible grammar, do you hear what you’re saying? The entire boy? This is either incredibly stupid or sickeningly rude. Actually no, it’s both.
