Bay welfare organisation welcomes new manager

Lebo Maribe has been appointed Officer Manager at Richards Bay Family Care

A NEW, experienced woman is at the helm of local welfare organisation, Richards Bay Family Care.

Lebo Maribe has been appointed Officer Manager at the non-profit welfare organisation that offers comprehensive and inclusive services to families with children under the age of 12 and promotes the safety and development of children.

The former Tshwane resident relocated, in a strategic career move, and brings with her a wealth of child welfare knowledge and experience.

Having started out as a social worker in 2006, she worked on a HIV/AIDS project and assisted in child abuse investigations in child welfare organisations before taking up a position as an Employee Assistance Programme Practitioner.

‘I realised the corporate environment was not for me, so when the opportunity arose to work in a community organisation, I welcomed the challenge.

‘People here are friendly, warm and welcoming and I am excited about working in an organisation that is structured and has committed, dedicated and passionate staff.

‘We are here to serve the people, promote the well-being of community and preserve families.’

A firm believer in promoting preventative measures, Maribe wants to introduce family team conferences to equip and empower families with knowledge to make informed decisions.

‘Child abuse is something that must be addressed and my dream is for every child to be in a loving, caring and supportive environment,’ she said.
