Zululand missionary in Africa

Africa missions with Pastor Mike

BACK to the warm sun and the beautiful coastline, Pastor (Ps) Mike Geel of Empangeni Coastal Assembly of God Church, has spent the last two weeks on mission in Africa.

Passionately involved in ministry, Ps Geel has done mission work in Africa for almost 15 years and makes 14 day trips to Africa twice-a-year.

Focusing on rural evangelism and the formation of churches in African villages, Ps Geel and his team aims to establish and train congregants to care for the developed fellowships.

Having recently returned from his trip to Zambia and Mozambique, Ps Geel said the hugeness of mission work done is remarkable.

‘This trip was extraordinary because we had 50 baptism candidates. The development of the work at the moment and the sincerity of the people is mind-blowing,’ said Ps Geel.

‘One of the many highlights during this trip was a group of people we found quite far away. It was a literal 45-minute foot path we had to walk to locate them. They live in houses that are weaved like baskets, the remoteness of it was like going back in time.’

‘It is absolutely primitive. The people in that village hollow out an entire log, cut holes shaped as windows in it and keep their chickens in there. They actually use the bark as a coop. It is truly incredible, I could tell you 100 stories!’ said Ps Geel.

In ministry for more than 30 years nationally and internationally, Ps Geel and his Central African Assemblies of God team will leave again for their next mission trip in September.
