BRAINS and beauty – and making Zululanders proud.
That is Nikki Msubo of Meerensee, who graduated this month with a Masters degree in Applied Economics and Predictive Analytics from the prestigious Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas.
The eldest daughter in her family, Nikki matriculated in 2007 from Grantleigh College and enrolled at SMU to complete a four-year BSc Financial Economics degree.
In 2012 Nikki returned to South Africa to undergo an internship programme at Johannesburg-based Global Investment Bank, Rothschild.
The graduation ceremony in Dallas coincided with her mom’ s birthday.
‘We are grateful for her achievements and thank God for having protected her during her stay in Dallas. She has never let us down; instead she has made us so proud by being consistently exemplary,’ said elated parents Thami and Lungi.
Happily engaged to Jason Peterson of Dallas, Nikki plans to stay in the United States permanently and start her career at one of the largest banks in the country.
One of the leading universities in the US, SMU boasts alumni such as former Amertican first lady Laura Bush, Reality TV celebrity Kourtney Kardashian and current BP CEO Robert Dudley, amongst others.
In May 2011 SMU conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Constitutional Law to the late former South African Chief Justice, Judge Pius Langa.
