Trees for Old Mill School

It will be cool in the shade at Old MIll school in Empangeni.

THE Old Mill School in Empangeni has been expanding, with new classrooms and magnificent new sports fields transforming the school grounds.

The developments have prompted Rotarian Eric Bernon to liaise with Old Mill Principal, Lawrence Mandlenkosi Mbambo, to receive donated trees for the pupils to plant and nurture.

The aim is to provide much needed shade for the sports fields.

The school has an Environmental Club with representatives from each grade and coordinated by geography teacher Ms Thembi Mhlongo.

This group of pupils are responsible for the school environment and will ensure that the 30 large indigenous trees, grown by Twinstreams Indigenous Nursery in Mtunzini and donated by Empangeni Rotary Club, will be well cared for.
