Capturing beauty through the lens

May winners of the Beachcombers Photography Club competition

OUTSTANDING photographic and technical skill was showcased during the May competition of the Richards Bay Beachcombers Photographic Club.

Photographers with riveting and impactful entries were commended with gold awards and certificates of merit during the monthly competition.

This month’s theme was ‘Windows and Doors’, which was won by Sias van Schalkwyk for his image ‘Through the Royal Window’.

The open category also attracted a string of exceptional entries, but it was Van Schalkwyk again who scooped this category with his winning shot ‘Feathered Rainbow’.

Hein Beukes was named the ‘Best Junior’ for claiming the most points overall at the meeting.

Photographers who received certificate of merit included Daryl Visser for his entry ‘NSRI Reflecting Long Exposure’, Dudley Kelbe for ‘Cheetah at Sunrise’, Kobus Maree’ for ‘Kransaasvoël’, Nobby Clarke for ‘What do we have here?’ and Gavin Fordham for ‘Morning’.

Photographers and interested visitors are invited to attend the monthly meetings of the Beachcombers Photographic Club, which takes place on the first Tuesday of every month at the NSRI base in Richards Bay.

Induction of new members begins at 6.30pm and the club meeting at 7pm. For more information, visit https://www.beachcombersclub.co.za.
