It’s a miracle

Shocking results for Richards Bay Medical Institute patient

DOUG BAIN and his wife Desiree jumped for joy when they revisited the Richards Bay Medical Institute (RBMI) for a follow up appointment on Thursday morning.

It was good news for Doug, the first oncology patient treated on advanced radiation therapy equipment at RBMI, as Professor Jordaan confirmed that his tumour and cancer is now non-existent.

Desiree attributed the great results to both to the modern technology of the sophisticated Varian TrueBeam linear reactor machine and the special care Doug has received over the past two months.

‘We are grateful to Professor Jordaan and his team for the tremendous work that they have done. We are looking forward to moving on with our lives as normal. We have learnt a lot from this experience and realised that God gives us things that we have to deal with, and the main thing to remember is that we should never give up and always remain positive,’ said Desiree.

Having had a large malignant tumour removed from his brain prior to the radiation therapy, Doug (41) is now ‘back to normal’, sleeping well and is having fun spending time with his sons, Jonathan and Joshua.

Doug has been an inspiration to many Zululanders suffering with cancer as he completed his treatment on 31 January and was back to his job as CEO of the Randpark Golf Club in Johannesburg just two days later.

With another MRI scheduled in three months, Doug hopes that his future scan will be clear too.
