RICHEM Secondary School Grade 9 pupil has made it as a finalist in the Miss SA Junior Teen pageant.

This 15-year-old beauty, Nomcebo Ntshange of Empangeni is going to Pretoria for the finale of the pageant during the first week of May.

Walking away in August last year with the title of Miss Tourism Teen, hosted in Richards Bay, Nomcebo knew that modeling was a path she wanted to travel.

‘I just love modeling. Besides, my mum used to model back in the day,’ she said.

The eldest and only girl of three children, Nomcebo believes modeling positively contributes to instilling discipline, responsibility and dignity.

A singer and actor of note, Nomcebo attends drama classes during weekends.

‘My drama classes just help with the enhancement of character and confidence which is a plus for my modeling,’ she said.

Not just a pretty face, this stunner said her favourite subjects are Mathematics and Natural Science.

‘Natural Science is fascinating; I never leave a class without having learnt something,’

‘Maths has always been a subject I enjoy. After matric I plan to go to university and study Chartered Accountancy,’ she said.

If this Zulu beauty is not studying, singing, acting or modeling, she makes time for her guilty pleasure, cupcakes.

‘I love baking cupcakes!’ she said.

Nomcebo has a good heart revealed by her involvement with non-profit organisation, Celimpilo Youth Development Project.

‘We work at enriching the community in all aspects. On Human Rights Day, we took to the streets with an anti-bullying campaign,’ she said.

Supporters in every corner, Nomcebo has her principal rooting for her too!

‘She is representing our community and for that we are immensely proud. There are conditions though, which are to maintain her marks at school.

‘Having such a big responsibility of representing such a large community, you have to be smart. And in order to be smart, you have to be academically clued up. She is an intelligent, respectful and disciplined pupil who has huge potential.

She could one day be the next Miss South Africa!’ said Richem Secondary School Principal, Doctor Sibusiso Mthethwa.

‘I will be voting for her in exchange for continued academic excellence,’ he chuckled.

To vote for Nomcebo, SMS ‘JT22’ to 47087, voting closes on 3 May at midnight.
