THE man accused of allegedly murdering his wife and prominent dance teacher, Carolyn Lathwood Frara in their Empangeni home in April will only reappear in the dock in November.

John Edward ‘Johnnie’ Frara made a brief appearance at the Empangeni Magistrate Court on Thursday where the case was remanded for 11 and 12 November.

It is alleged the couple were involved in an argument in the kitchen after Carolyn returned home from a dance practice.

Police reports confirmed that John Frara alerted them to the incident after he had called Farm Watch.

Upon arrival at the Frara residence around 6.30pm, police discovered the deceased had been attacked and suffered multiple stab wounds to her head and body.

Frara was arrested on 18 April making his first appearance at the Empangeni District Magistrates Court on 22 April.

The state prosecutors told the court that in accordance with an agreement made with the defence, Frara’s bail would not be opposed.

The conditions included that Frara hand over his passport, pay a bail of R10 000, reside with his daughter and report to the Empangeni Police Station every second week.

Attorney for the accused, Johan van der Westhuizen noted during proceedings earlier this year that the prosecutor was also in possession of a medical note detailing a recommendation by a local doctor that Frara seek medical attention from a specialised physician.
