Zululand united against Aids

uMgungundlovu united against the spread of HIV/Aids and TB

UMGUNGUNDLOVU united against the spread of HIV/Aids and TB last week when all faith organisations, traditional healers, political leadership of the district and non-governmental organisation members came together at the uMngeni Sports Complex to emphasise the need for health care testing and to ensure a joint effort in fighting the spread of disease.

MEC for Finance Ina Cronjé played host during the Commemoration of World Aids Day, delivering a message on behalf of all stakeholders.

Cronjé said there ought to be no one who gets infected by HIV/Aids when the government has organised support and spread so much information regarding this epidemic.

‘We want zero infection from now on. This is the responsibility of every individual, young and old,’ she said.

‘We want zero discrimination. There was a time when those infected could not disclose their status for fear of discrimination and victimisation,’ she added.

‘We want zero Aids-related deaths and this can only happen when we have no people getting sick because of HIV/Aids. We want you to love yourself enough to get yourselves tested allowing you to live a clean life knowing your status,’ said Cronjé.
