Biker chick with chic

Local nail art technician Marinda Castelyn sees clients on her Ninja Kawasaki

IF you see a ninja on your driveway don’t be alarmed!

It is not a covert agent or mercenary feudal Japanese type warrior.

It will be a Kawasaki Ninja, one that goes by the name ‘Patches’ and powered along by Zululand’s bike chick with chic, Marinda Castelyn.

Marinda offers a rare service – manicures and pedicures in the comfort of your own home.

A passionate biker who believes she can ride better than she can walk, Marinda is a professional nail art technician whose tough exterior initially hides her soft feminine touch.

Formerly from Pretoria, Marinda completed her professional training at the Nail Academy in 1998 and has been living in Empangeni for 10 years.

For the past eight years she has been offering her home personalised services to women in Richards Bay, Empangeni and even St Lucia and this she delivers on her beautiful beast ‘Patches’.

What makes Marinda’s services special, apart from going to her clients, is the quality of her workmanship.

Marinda says her ‘nails’ last six to 12 weeks and most often than not, she hears flattering stories of her clients’ nails being better than the brides’ nails at weddings.

Marinda says her work brings out most clients’ personalities, from simple and natural to full out bling!

‘When people find out what I do, I get the question – ‘you’re on a bike, can you do nails?’ laughs Marinda.

But to Marinda, she does more than nails. She makes a woman want to show off their nails and feel like a million bucks.

She also sees clients at the office during lunch breaks, giving them a full hour of pampering without having to drive to a certain location. If you’re looking for a ‘hand2hand’ experience, contact Marinda on 083 3003819.

Marinda’s tips for healthy nails

1. Use nail varnish as it strengthens nails

2. Buff your nails at least once every week to stimulate growth

3. After showering, moisturise cuticles

4. When filing your nails, never take away the sides as this breaks the nail.
