A MAN was tragically killed by gun-wielding assailants while he was driving to Mtubatuba from his home in Machibini at 11am on Tuesday.
According to the KwaMsane SAP, Muziwohleno Mchunu was behind the wheel, accompanied by two passengers, when four men suddenly jumped out of the bush onto the road and opened fire.
He was shot in the chest, arm and shoulder.
‘He sadly passed away in an ambulance while rushing to the Hlabisa Provincial Hospital,’ said KwaMsane SAP spokesperson Jabulani Mdletshe.
Mchunu is a taxi owner in Johannesburg and was visiting his wife and two children in Machibini when the incident occurred.
A case of murder was opened at the KwaMsane SAPS, but no arrests have yet been made.
The motive for the shooting is still unclear.
