Criminals target Alton church

A Richards Bay place of worship was burgled

CRIMINALS made off with R20 000 worth of electrical equipment when they burgled a church premises in Alton, Richards Bay in the early hours of Thursday.

SR Paul Ministries Pastor Ivan Naidoo said the unit at Four Ways Park was broken into just before 1am.

He was at the scene in seven minutes of receiving the alarm alert but the criminals had already been in and out of the building.

‘Our electronic equipment such as mixer, mikes, cords and speakers were taken.

‘The park is secured with a steel gate and they broke the lock and gained entry.

‘They smashed the glass door, removed the items and fled the scene within minutes.

‘This certainly sounds like an act of a well orchestrated group.

‘Crime compromises us more, the situation of desperation on the criminals’ side makes it more difficult on the consumer, with rising costs in these tough economic times.

‘We had to respond to this unfortunate incident by introducing more security measures at an extra cost, ‘ he said.
