Nquthu men charged with rape

Three serial rapists appeared in Nquthu Magistrate's Court

THREE rapists who are believed to have started their spree in March in the Lovisi area in Nquthu have been arrested.

The suspects, aged between 18 and 25 years, appeared in the Nquthu Magistrate’s Court on 10 counts of rape and robbery and were remanded in custody to Tuesday, 3 September for their bail application.

It is alleged that the trio would allegedly wait for their victims in a deserted area between their work and homes late in the evening.

They would then accost and rob them of their cellular phones, cash and valuable belongings before they were stripped naked and raped at a knife point.

This was their modus operandi in the 10 cases reported to the police.

Two of the suspects were arrested in the Zicole area and they appeared in court on Wednesday, 27 August.

They were remanded in custody pending further investigation.

On Thursday, 29 August the police returned to Zicole area where they arrested the third suspect.

The police have asked any victims who have suffered the same fate to come forward and open cases at the police station.
