Nite Owl Security is introducing Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) concept in security in 2022, and it promises to be a game changer in surveillance and home and business premises protection.

Implementing Artificial Intelligence, DDA Video Analytics allows off-site monitoring of a premises, acting as a virtual guard that is able to immediately pick up the presence of any intruder and send out an alert.

Using smart object recognition technology, DDA Video Analytics is able to distinguish between the following objects:

• humans,
• four-wheel vehicles and
• two-wheel vehicles

Unlike ‘motion detection’ (which is based on pixel changes), DDA Video Analytics is able to distinguish the type of ‘object’ detected within a specific perimeter. Only when it detects a human intruder or vehicle, the surveillance system will activate an alarm or send a push notification to the control room or user’s cellphone. This ability significantly reduces false alarms caused by wind, animals, birds, rain, shadows, light changes, shacking branches, et cetera.

Applications (examples)

• Intruder alert – the DDa can pick up the presence of any human being in a restricted area.
• Perimeter protection – an alarm will sound the moment a vehicle or person crosses a predetermined line.
• Sterile area protection – the user draws an area in the scene and sets access permissions
• No parking – humans allowed, but no vehicles allowed. The system detects and distinguishes whether a human or car enters the prohibited area, but will only initiate an alarm if a vehicle enters the prohibited area.
• Entrance and exit monitoring – A DDA camera at a gate entrance or exit will allow real-time entrance and exit monitoring.
• Humans/vehicle counting – the system counts the amount of vehicles entering and exiting an area and will alert when the maximum limit number is reached.

In addition, facial and number plate recognition will revolutionise access control as automatic gates could be programmed to only open for pre-registered vehicles or individuals.
