How to enter the Spar Women’s Virtual Challenge

Entries for the virtual race are open

Entries for the Spar Women’s Virtual Challenge on 4 September are officially open and athletes are urged to sign up early as places are limited.

This year’s theme is #LiveLimitless and celebrates life before the pandemic.

Organisers call on all South Africans to lace up their running shoes and come together virtually to be part of a nationwide event that’s breaking borders and redefining limits.

Since entries opened on 26 May, the response has been overwhelming. More than 5 000 entries were submitted within the first few days, so time is running out.

Between 6am and 6pm on race day, entrants will run, walk or jog at their own pace on their own route, over any distance and from any location they choose.

Guidance on entries and how the event works can be found at www.sparvirtualchallenge.co.za Once an entry is finalised, a confirmation email will be sent, which will give access to this year’s digital magazine.

South African entrants will receive a virtual challenge pack with their entry containing a race T-shirt, a buff and a medal, to be collected from their chosen Spar store or delivered to their chosen address (at an additional cost).

For every entry, Spar will donate a pack of sanitary pads to a schoolgirl in need. Entries close on 15 August and are limited to 75 000 participants.

This year, athletes will again be able to create their own race number online and create their own certificate of completion.

Entrants residing outside South Africa will not receive a virtual challenge pack owing to postal restrictions and courier fees.

But the entry fee will still contribute to the donation of a pack of sanitary pads for a schoolgirl in need.
