Tronox bags ‘blue chip’ award

Local mineral sands company brings home the KZN Top Business Partnership Award

TRONOX KZN Sands last Thursday scooped the KZN Top Business Award for its inspiring work with the local community, non-profit organisations and government.

The company received the Partnership Award, also known as the Blue Chip, at the ceremony held at the Greyville Convention Centre in Durban.

This accolade acknowledges industry leaders’ concerted efforts in tackling social, education and economic challenges in the province.

‘The major theme of the evening was the importance of building partnerships between the private sector and government to promote investment and development in KZN,’ said Tronox KZN Regional General Manager, Neels Oosterhuis.

‘It was therefore a huge honour to win this award.

‘We believe partnerships promote the long-term interests of all our stakeholders, including employees, customers, business partners, investors, local communities, government officials, and the mining and minerals industries at large.

‘Tronox wants to empower local communities by helping community members establish businesses.

‘In this manner we contribute to the creation of small businesses, which will remain sustainable in the future.’
