RBM scoops awards for being ‘eco-logical’

Milestones for minerals mine

THERE is highlight at the end of the tunnel after damaging protests at Richards Bay Minerals.

Not only has the company and its Health, Safety and Environment Coach, Mbuso Khambule, recently received three Eco-Logic awards, but RBM is also this week celebrating two million injury-free hours.

The awards ceremony, held last month, celebrated and acknowledged environmental innovators, movers and shakers.

RBM was given the Biodiversity Award for its restoration programme while Khambule grabbed both the Eco Youth and Eco Warrior awards.

The company further announced on Wednesday it has achieved ‘the magical’ two million hour recordable injury-free milestone.

Addressing staff members, RBM Managing Director Mpho Mothoa thanked everyone for their safety conscious stance that led to the accomplishment.

‘The most important element of our safety success is you.

‘Without the dedication and safety focus of each of our team members, we would not be able to achieve these milestone performances.

‘Please continue with the essential practice of starting each day with your important risk assessments and working safely together.’
