Tiro drives workplace relationships

RBM welcomes new Senior Advisor to their HR team.

FROM the streets of Lekubung in the North West Province, to the Zulu Kingdom’s mining sector, July Tiro has been appointed as the new Senior Advisor for Employee Relations at Richards Bay Minerals (RBM).

Some of Tiro’s key focus areas will be to measure RBM’s employee satisfaction and morale, in addition to identifying the potential challenges they may face.

‘It is important that this relationship is managed in such a way that it enhances productivity and leads to the improvement of employee motivation and morale, Tiro says.

‘What attracted me to RBM was the fact that it is part of the Rio Tinto family, which is a multinational company. The opportunity to learn the world’s standards and have a clear global view of business was most attractive,’

He regards his working environment so far as being interesting, adding that there are unique challenges and a diverse workforce, which encourages him to engage and learn more.

After matriculating, Tiro studied at Wits University and obtained a national diploma in human resources. He later went on to pursue a postgraduate diploma in labour law.

Before joining RBM, Tiro was an HR practitioner at Anglo American Platinum for five years, followed by a stint at Lonmin Platinum Mines in Rustenberg , where he fulfilled the role of Senior Capital Consultant.
