Businesswomen on the move

Local businesswomen discuss the year ahead at the Zululand BWA AGM.

IT’S a bright year ahead for the Zululand Businesswomen’s Association as exciting plans were discussed at the Annual General Meeting at the Umfolozi Casino Resort on Thursday evening.

Chairperson Chantal McNally is positive about this year’s agenda.

‘The BWA is about mentorship and growing one another,’ said McNally. ‘Our workshops, such as the Businesswomen of Tomorrow function, are very rewarding for those who attend.’

Although 2014 was a good year, financially it has been a constant battle for the non-profit organisation.

‘We are in an area where corporates are tightening their belts, but we have formed partnerships with the ZCCI, Lead and uThungulu, so the way forward looks promising.’

Members also welcomed new coordinator Mimi Leshoro, who is eager to get the ball rolling and reach the target numbers for this year.

The Reginal Business Achiever Awards is also around the corner and nominations by the community are encouraged.

An array of finalists will be recognised for their efforts in contributing to the local economy.
