Empowering artists with business skills

Artists transform their talents into a business.

LOCAL artists were empowered on business issues during the Redemption Business Talk at the Civic Centre in Richards Bay on Friday.

The purpose of the event was to provide artists with the knowledge on how to transform their talents into a business and develop a plan that will improve their business skills.

Musicians, designers, dancers and event companies engaged in discussions and identified some challenges in the industry.

‘If we make a move towards these challenges in the next three years, we can open doors for many in the industry, thus creating jobs. We will approach various government sectors to assist us with improving the lives of local artists.’ said event organiser Mpendulo Mbulalwa.

Local businessman Ishwar Ramlutchman advised artists to work together and support other good community initiatives.

‘I challenge you today to come together and changs lives through art,’ he said.

Inkwazi Boardwalk Shopping Centre Marketing and PR manager, Angelique Wright, encouraged attendees to take education seriously.

‘Education is really important. It will give one something to fall back on,’ she said.
