Equalizers to shoot for national title

Local paintball side the Equalizers have a shot at the national title come December

FOR local trigger-happy outfit the Equalizers, this year has been a successful journey in one of the most competitive and fastest growing sports in the world.

There are currently five local teams competing in regional events four times a year, and it is hoped to increase the number.

Nationally there are more than 300 teams competing in four different divisions, which evolved from only 40 teams at the start of the year.

The Equalizers started the year off in Division 5 as beginners and soon eliminated their competition after taking gold at all four regional events, ending the season ranked number one in South Africa.

The only obstacle to be crowned SA champs is the more than 100 teams competing in their division and another 200 in other divisions at the national event in December in the Free State.

The Equalizers consist of a squad of six players and a coach. This team has the potential and ability to take the top spot.

To reach the top, the team will need sponsors to attend the Super Cup at Lake Gariep from 5 to 8 December.
