Pupils urged to save their uniforms for the less fortunate

UFasimba condemns lashing of school uniform

THE Young Communist League (YCL) also known as UFasimba in the Riot Makomanisi Mkhwanazi District (uThungulu) has heaped praise on this year’s matrics for behaving well, even after their final examination paper.

Addressing a media briefing at their Empangeni offices last week, District spokesperson Khulezweni Sbu Shwala said they were encouraged by the manner in which many scholars handled their excitement after writing their final paper.

‘We were impressed by the level of maturity shown by our scholars, who in the past resorted to slashing of school uniforms.

‘We remain opposed to this act as those uniforms may still be donated to their siblings, the needy and the less fortunate.

‘As the YCL we understand that we are located in the district which has a scale of rural poor areas, working class locations where affordability is tough.

‘It is in this regard that we wish to commend our young scholars to continue pursuing the African culture of sharing and collectivism.’

YCL Deputy Secretary Nkosiyazi Nyandeni also wished the matric class of 2015 all the best in completing their matric and their future endeavors in the post school sector and working environment.

‘We are therefore calling all responsible young scholars to donate their uniforms and shoes to other needy children from the poorest villages and communities in the District.

‘As the District we will be ushering our radical Joe Slovo Right to Learn Campaign from early January, in an effort to make education fashionable for all young people.’
