UPDATE: Muthi man arrested for gruesome slaughter

Two men have been arrested in connection with the discovery of the remains of a horribly mutilated woman

AN inyanga (witchdoctor) and his alleged co-conspirator have been arrested for the bloodcurdling murder of a woman in Mfekayi Reserve near Mtubatuba.

The victim’s skull was found in a shallow grave just outside the 35-year-old inyanga’s homestead on Monday night.

It is believed to be the remains of 24-year-old Venge Tholakele Nsibande who went missing in May 2013 after leaving work in Mfekayi.

Soon after the news broke of the grisly discovery, a witness stepped forward and told police that the inyanga, assisted by three young men, had abducted the woman and strangled her to death at the Hluhluwe River to harvest her body parts for muthi.

‘It was reported the suspects beheaded her and cut off her hands and private parts,’ said KwaMsane SAPS spokesperson Captain Jabulani Mdletshe.

Both the inyanga and a 25-year-old co-suspect are being held at Mtubatuba police cells.

They are expected to appear in the KwaMsane Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (Friday) on murder charges.
