Walk for a change

Six men walk to Pongola for charity

ON their ‘Feet 4 Feat’ campaign, six Cape Town backpackers passed through Richards Bay last week Monday to catch their breath before continuing with their walk to Pongola.

Following the footsteps of former freedom fighter and philanthropist Nelson Mandela, these six guys have dedicated their lives to helping others improve their way of life along the way.

They have travelled for more than six months on foot, while raising funds for different charity organisations, such as ‘Reach for a Dream’ and ‘Feet 4 Feat’.

The funds raised during this campaign are donated to children with special needs and those with terminal diseases.

‘We thought if Mandela could dedicate his life to help people, why can’t we do the same? So we left our jobs in Cape Town and dedicated our lives to making a change in the world.

‘Everywhere we go, we try to assist as much as we can,’ said group member, Darryl Atwell.

They told the Zululand Observer that they will walk until they reach Pongola, and then travel back the same way.

These energetic fellows invited Zululanders to also make a change in their community by lending a hand to those in need.

The six-pack will be hosting sporting activities and a children’s art competition in the iNgwavuma area on 27 September.

The event will feature the soccer team Thanda Royal Zulu and other prominent people.
