Man arrested after fatal taxi driver shooting

Police are on the hunt for a second suspect after the shooting in Empangeni this afternoon

A MAN has been arrested and a second is on the run after an Empangeni taxi driver was shot and killed this afternoon.

According to reports the driver was travelling back from Johannesburg, when he was asked to stop near Empangeni Milling on the R34, just after 3pm.

It is believed one of the passengers shot the man in the head shortly after disembarking.

Police managed to apprehend one suspect, while a second man is on the run.

The motive for the shooting is unclear, although this is the latest in what can only be described as a spate of taxi related shootings.

The driver could not be identified yet, as his next of kin have not been notified.
