Arboretum man shot during struggle with robbers

Corbin Geldenhuys was attacked at the Avokadokroon home shortly after 4am.

AN Arboretum Extension resident sustained three gunshot wounds after an encounter with robbers during a break-in on Saturday morning.

According to Richards Bay SAPS spokesperson Captain Debbie Ferreira, victim Corbin Geldenhuys was attacked at the Avokadokroon residence shortly after 4am by two suspects, one of whom was armed.

Family friends said Geldenhuys wrestled with the robber and was wounded twice in the right shoulder, the third shot grazing his cheek bone.

He was rushed to Netcare The Bay Hospital where he is receiving medical attention and is reportedly making good progress in ICU.

A laptop, wallet and cellphone were stolen during the incident.
