TWO men pretending to report a crime made off with a policeman’s firearm last night, after robbing him at gunpoint inside a police station.
According to reports two men entered the eNseleni Satellite Community Safety Centre (CSC, previously charge office) just after 19.20pm under the pretence of reporting a crime.
KZN Police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said one of the men had a bandage on his head.
They produced firearms, taking the policeman by surprise.
The robbers fled on foot after overpowering the officer and demanding his pistol.
Sources close to the investigation told the Zululand Observer the men also demanded the safe key.
‘The officer could not comply with their demand, as the Warrant Officer who had the key was in the loo at the time,’ said the source.
Major Zwane confirmed that a case of business robbery is being investigated by Empangeni Police.
