Robbery turns into cold-blooded murder

KwaMsane SAPS are hunting down a suspect involved in a violent home invasion-turned-murder.

A 77-YEAR-OLD Mtubatuba woman and her two teenage grandsons were the victims of a violent home invasion last week in which one of the teens was murdered.

The incident occurred on Thursday at about 8pm at the family’s homestead in Mfekayi Reserve.

According to the police report, Elinah Dube and her 13 and 19-year-old grandsons were already asleep when a gun-wielding man kicked down their front door and entered the house.

He demanded money from Dube and when she said she did not have any, the suspect opened fire, shooting her in the chest.

He then forced Dube at gunpoint to open her grandsons’ bedroom door. Once inside the boys’ bedroom, the suspect opened fire, shooting the 13-year-old in the stomach and leg, and the 19-year-old twice in the shoulder.

The victims were taken to Hlabisa Hospital where the 13-year-old later died while receiving treatment.

KwaMsane SAPS have opened a case of murder and attempted murder, but no arrests have been made.
