UPDATE: Fatal crash teen driver still not charged

The fate of the teen driver remains undecided, three months after an accident that left one dead

PUBLIC prosecutors have still not decided whether or not to prosecute and charge a teen driver who was involved in a fatal accident on the N2 on 3 June.

The 15-year-old boy allegedly stole his father’s Mercedes and was later involved in a crash with a small bakkie near Empangeni that left one dead and four others injured.

The Mercedes came to a stop at least 200m from the original point of impact.

Spokesperson for Empangeni SAPS, Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose, confirmed that the docket was still with the office of the public prosecutors for a decision on how to proceed.
