Bay rugby side reach semi-final

Richards Bay 1 will take on Vryheid 1 at Richards Bay Rugby Club on Saturday in a Junior Murray Cup semi-final knock-out clash.

IT was a case of mixed results for the Richards Bay Rugby Club when the first and second team travelled to the Bluff in Durban to take on Harlequins Rugby Club in a Junior Murray Cup quarter-final knock-out clash.

Richards Bay 1 coach Graham Beukes was pleased with a hard fought 27-23 win which sees his team progress to the semi-finals of the competition.

Unfortunately the second team’s season came to an end when the side went down 30-17 to a well-drilled Harlequins outfit.

After the draw on Monday evening in Durban, Richards Bay will host Vryheid in their semi-final fixture on Saturday (2.30pm).

The action will get underway at 1pm when Vryheid 2 take on Harlequins 2.

Locals are urged to come down to the Richards Bay Rugby Club on Saturday and get behind the boys.
