BREAKING NEWS: Police uncover dagga den in St Lucia

While investigating a house robbery, police uncovered a huge amount of dagga in a house.

MTUBATUBA police stumbled upon a large dagga production factory at a house in St Lucia last night.

While following a tip-off in connection with a recent house robbery in St Lucia, the officers found dagga plants of all sizes, dried plants hanging like washing and leaves and seeds packaged in plastic bags.

The estimated street value is currently unknown but at least three bakkie-loads were confiscated.

The suspect living at the house was taken into police custody and is being detained at Mtubatuba Police Station.

Officers are working on the possibility that he was involved in a house robbery on Saturday night in which a bystander became victim of a hit-and-run.

The vehicle allegedly used in the hit-and-run was found at the house last night.

A second person, also suspected to be involved in the house robbery, is also being detained.
