UPDATE: Decapitated man’s head found

Community member finds two dogs fighting over murder victim’s missing head.

FOUR days after a KwaMsane herder found a beheaded man’s body with his heart, lungs and intestines removed, another community member discovered the victim’s missing head last week.

Sibusiso Khoza was reportedly leaving his house at noon on Wednesday to visit his neighbour when he noticed two dogs tugging at an object.

When he came closer to inspect, he was horrified to find it was a human head.

‘The head was in a semi-decomposed condition and some of the flesh had already been eaten by the dogs,’ said KwaMsane SAPS spokesperson Captain Jabulani Mdletshe.

The body has been kept at the Mtubatuba Mortuary since it was found last Saturday at Dutch reserve near Ebaswazini.

All members of the community in the area failed to identify the deceased.

Captain Mdletshe said it was too early to determine if this was, as some suspect, a ‘muti murder’. The case will not be handed over the SAPS Occult Unit, but investigated locally by KwaMsane SAPS.

To ensure this recent attack remains an isolated incident, Captain Mdletshe urged community members not to roam into unknown or remote areas.

‘The KwaMsane police request that anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of a suspect, contact Captain Mbele on 035 5519019 or 082 3763145.
