Spend 67 minutes on the ZO line

If you have not yet decided what to do for your 67 minutes of charitable service this Saturday, make your way to the ZO charity washing line

THE Zululand Observer is encouraging the public to devote 67 minutes of their time in a novel and charitable way by heading to the longest charity washing lines in Empangeni and Richards Bay this Saturday.

In its fourth year running, the annual ‘Hang out with Madiba’ campaign will see washing lines erected at the newspaper’s offices in Empangeni (Baines Road) and in the open space between the Civic Centre and the East Central Arterial in Richards Bay from 8am to 1pm

All you need to do is bring along packets of pegs to hang up winter woollies, clothing and blankets, which will be distributed via the ZO’s charity arm – DICE (Do I Care Enough?) to needy organisations and disaster management units on the same day.

The ZO has again partnered with the City of uMhlathuze, via the uMhlathuze Community Tourism Organisation and the Rotary Clubs of Empangeni and Richards Bay Service Clubs.

School children on holiday and the business fraternity are also invited to join the initiative.

Volunteers will be there to accept used or new clothing between 8am and 1pm.

More than 2 000 items of winter clothing were collected in 2014 and the aim is to double the support this year.

See you at the ZO washing line on Saturday.
