Churning those pedals

Third Bell Big Five Series mountain bike race this weekend

THIS Sunday sees the running of the third mountain bike race in the Bell Big Five Series at KwaMbonambi.

The Build-it Kwambo Lion is not considered one of the toughest events of the series, but do not be caught sleeping as the organisers are always looking at throwing in the odd challenge when least expected.

The race will follow the tried and tested route which will test rider and machine on the forest stretches in the area.

Track designer John Swaine and his team will make the race as interesting as possible and all should enjoy the scenery.

The good rain which fell last week should settle the dust and will make for good riding.

The 50km race starts at the Kwambo Club (GPS co-ordinates S28 35.981 E32 04.731) at 8.30am.

This will be followed by the 25km riders at 9am, the timed 10km riders at 9.30am and the untimed 10km riders making up the back of the field at 9.35am.

The co-director of the race is Mike Browne (083 6319582), assisted by co-ordinator Rusty Barnes (082 8881108).

Riders can enter online with ROAG or on the day between 6am and 8am.
