Daytime robbers strike Richards Bay

It is believed the thugs gained entry through a sliding door, which was left open.

A 53-year-old Veldenvlei resident and her brother were held at gunpoint and robbed of cellphones, cash and jewellery.

Richards Bay SAPS Communications Officer Debbie Ferreira said the victim was asleep at about 1.45pm on Saturday, when she was woken by a man pointing a gun to her head.

He forced her to go into the lounge and pistol-whipped her brother on the head.

It is believed they gained entry through a sliding door, which was left open.

Meanwhile in Birdswood, robbers gained entry into a home in Warbler Walk street last Wednesday morning, held the domestic worker at gunpoint and removed household goods.

The incident happened shortly after 8am when the robbers removed the glass door and entered the house.

During the incident a man, who had come to the house to collect goods, was taken and locked in the laundry room with the domestic worker.

The thieves escaped with furniture and equipment over the back wall into a greenbelt.
