It’s all about that beer…

Are you a beerginner? Never fear, here's a list to help you get it right.

EVERY oke, especially in Zululand, can appreciate the fact that nothing beats an ice cold beer at the end of the day.

We believe South Africa has some of the best beers in the world, because we are patriotic like that.

More often than not, you will be eating before, while and after having a few beers.

So, just to make you seem smarter, here’s a cheat sheet on SA’s four favourite beers, and how they go best with food:

CASTLE LAGER

The stalwart of SA beers. Castle goes best with braai meats and mild curries. The robust, full bodied flavour is enough to stand up to a variety of meats, provided the marinade isn’t too overpowering.

HANSA PILSENER

Hansa can only be described as refreshing and crisp. It’s best paired with light, flavoured foods and seafood. It also pairs well with lightly spiced dishes.

BEER

CASTLE LITE

It’s cold, it’s lite, and it’s popular. Castle Lite is best paired with lightly flavoured foods, such as light seafoods and crisp crunchy green salads.

CARLING BLACK LABEL

The Champion’s Beer, distinguished by its flavour and reputation. This beer is big in all aspects, and it goes best with food that’s also big in all aspects, like strong curries and stews.

While we are firm believers in enjoying a cold brew, we must encourage responsible drinking. Don’t drink and drive guys!
