Pigeon racing season in full flight

Here are the Zululand Racing Pigeon Combine League results.

PONGOLA junior pigeon fancier Berdine Jacobs ruffled some feathers when she won the first race of the Zululand Racing Pigeon Combine League on 30 May, when her pigeons clocked the best over flight time.

A total of 25 teams from all over the Zululand region are currently competing every Saturday in the league.

All pigeons get transported to the designated starting line with electronic blocks placed on each pigeon.

They then race home and clock in their time and distance when landing on an electronic plate at their loft.

The over flight time then gets calculated and the winner is the announced.

The pigeons raced 200km in race one and the distance increased to 320km in race four.

The league would like to grow, so any new flyers interested to join a club and the league can contact Hilton Campbell on 082 8547078 (Richards Bay), Mani Badenhorst on 083 3031656 (Hluhluwe) or Manfrid Marx on 082 4518539 (Empangeni).
