Woman robbed in her home

Police caution residents to be alert following rising house robbery incidents

A MEVAMHLOPHE woman was greeted with a gun in her face when she opened her bedroom door on Thursday night.

The 46-year-old was responding to a bang on her front door at around 8pm, but by the time she got out of her bedroom, the intruder was already in her path.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose, the unknown man demanded money, upon which the shaken victim gave him everything she had in her possession.

‘On his way out, the man also took the victim’s radio,’ said Mdlalose.

The Empangeni SAPS subsequently arrested a 31-year-old man who will appear at the Ngwelezane Magistrates Court today (Monday).
