UPDATE: Sodwana holidaymaker dies after leg amputation
Thys Besselaar died yesterday afternoon in a Durban hospital.
A PHALABORWA man who was shot in the leg last Friday at a lodge in Sodwana Bay has died.
Thys Besselaar (35) had his right leg amputated at the hip at a Durban hospital on Monday.
According to a report by Netwerk24, there were complications after the operation which led to his death.
Besselaar and lodge owner, Tokkie Hugo were attacked by three armed men on Friday evening. While attempting to apprehend the men, one of the intruder’s shot Besselaar in the leg with a shotgun.
Mbazwana police are investigating the case but no arrests have been made as yet.
