Classes suspended at Dover School

Still no teaching and learning at Dover.

UTHUNGULU District Education authorities have suspended classes at Dover Farm School following ongoing pupil protests.

Sources say classes were suspended more than a week ago when pupils threatened to burn down the school.

This has been the situation since before the Easter break. Striking pupils demand that the school principal must step down.

The conflict has already resulted in two water tanks being set light and attempts to stone and torch teachers’ vehicles.

uThungulu District Education Director David Chonco said, ‘We are currently locked in meetings with teachers, the school governing body and the parents to find a solution to the problem. If all goes well, we hope the pupils will be back in class on Monday (today).’
