Breath of fresh air for Mtuba cops

Too embarrassed to let members of the public use the toilets at Mtuba SAPS, Station Commissioner approached Umfolozi Sugar Mill for help.

IN his attempt to follow through on making 2015 the ‘year of action’, Mtubatuba SAPS Station Commissioner Colonel Mngomezulu, approached local company Umfolozi Sugar Mill (USM) to help refurbish the toilets at the police station.

Mngomezulu was embarrassed to let members of the public make use of the ablutions which, until last week, were in a shameful state.

Furthermore, the bad state of the toilets may have encouraged people to relieve themselves in public, which is a criminal offence.

After a brief meeting with Mngomezulu earlier in the year, USM CEO Adrian Wynne felt compelled to help upgrade the facilities.

The USM team, including Civils Foreman Terry Baisley and Operations Director Alan Williamson, spent a month on the upgrades.

The end result was greatly appreciated by all, not least Colonel Mngomezulu, who said ‘I have no words’ before handing over a certificate of thanks to Wynne at Thursday’s handover function.
